Kiss Breast Cancer Away with SWAC: Sealed With A Cure
Sunday, November 15, 2009 at 8:04PM
Every October, the stores are flooded with a stream of products with one thing in common – the pink ribbon. Breast Cancer Awareness month is great for shopping since it allows you to buy great stuff for a great cause!
Purple Lab has partnered with the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation to create something amazing – SWAC: Sealed With A Cure. It’s premier color is named for the memory of Nancy Block-Zenna, a courageous woman who lost her battle to Triple Negative Breast Cancer. The paraben-free gloss is chock-full of yummy ingredients like Mangosteens Echinachea, Vitamins E & C, and REAL gold flecks! Plus the therapeutic aroma of vanilla is sure to give that needed boost throughout the day!

A few weeks ago I was invited to the swanky Norwood, where Purple Lab hosted the launch of SWAC. Purple Lab, fellow bloggers, and members of TNBC came together to sip on warm tea (perfect since it was raining today!) and munch on delicious cakes, scones, and sandwiches! Karen Robinovitz, Creatrix of Purple Lab, started the event off by telling us all why she wanted to create SWAC and how it all came together. I admire Purple Lab for choosing an organization that not a lot of women know about. To be honest, I was not aware of Triple Negative Breast Cancer till I attended the event. Also in attendance was Jolie, Nancy’s daughter, who is full of smiles, energy, and love – just as Nancy would’ve wanted her to be!
One of the highlights of the evening was meeting Geralyn Lucas. Author of the inspiring book, “I Wore Red Lipstick To My Mastectomy”, Lucas is a brilliant woman and I enjoyed learning about her life and her battle. At first, Geralyn was a lip-gloss gal – never daring to wear the red that she always thought to be too glam for her. When she was about to go ‘under the knife’, she then felt she could that bright red – the color that symobilzed her war paint. It told the world that she was there to fight and that no matter what, she would still be the same fiery woman she always wanted to be. It is remarkable to think that in the face of fear, Geralyn wore her red lipstick proud and stood tall against the very thing that was daring to take her womanhood away. She is an inspiration to me and to all women.
